Summary

The Wilson Pro Overgrip is the basic model in the Pro Grip series. It is made from ultra-thin, high-stretch material but is slightly thicker than the perforated and feel models. It has a smooth surface, which increases the grip’s durability but reduces its moisture control.

Compared to my other favorite tennis grip, the Wilson Pro Perforated Grip, the basic model offers better durability, and the grip does not wear out as quickly. However, the trade-off is in moisture control. During longer playing sessions or in humid conditions, the grip’s surface can feel slightly slippery.

The grip’s length is good, making it suitable for larger grip sizes, and the pre-cut end with a glue strip makes it easy to apply.

Overall, the Pro Overgrip offers good durability and average tackiness. However, the perforated model from the same series provides noticeably better moisture control at the cost of weaker durability.

Tackiness: 8.5/10 – Medium+

The Pro Overgrip offers slightly better-than-average tackiness. As long as the grip stays dry, it provides a good hold. However, if it gets wet, it can become slightly slippery during longer playing sessions.

Durability: 9/10 – Good

The solid surface of the overgrip improves its durability. In my experience, the grip performed well for about 8–9 hours without significantly losing tackiness or showing much wear.

Moisture Control: 8/10 – Average

Due to the grip’s solid surface and slightly thicker build, it offers only average moisture control. In shorter playing sessions (around 1 hour), the grip stays relatively dry and performs well. However, during longer sessions (1.5+ hours) or more intense play, moisture tends to build up on the surface, making it slightly slippery.

If you are looking for better moisture control, I would recommend the Wilson Pro Perforated model.

Length: – Good

The grip length is good, making it suitable for larger grip sizes. It requires minimal stretching to fully cover the handle.

Ease of Application: 9/10 – Great

The other end of the grip is precut and comes with an integrated glue strip, making application really easy. Compared to grips without precutting or adhesive strips, this saves a lot of time and makes it beginner-friendly.
